NEW YORK (September 22, 2025) – On Thursday, September 18, 2025, president of Logos Consulting Group Helio Fred Garcia was awarded the 2025 President’s Award by the New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA-NY).

PRSA-NY’s President's Award recognizes professionals who have demonstrated “the highest standards of ethical conduct and outstanding service within the public relations profession.” The award was presented by PRSA-NY President Ken Kerrigan, who over the past 36 years has been Garcia’s student (twice), client, NYU faculty colleague, writing collaborator, and dear friend.
“[Helio Fred Garcia] would go on to be far more than my boss. He’d become a mentor, a teacher and a friend – as he has for so many PR professionals around the world,” Kerrigan shared as he told the story of how he came to meet and work with Garcia. “Like many, I’ve never stopped learning from the extraordinary Fred Garcia.”
The award was presented at the 2025 Big Apple Award ceremony, a public relations industry gala recognizing outstanding team accomplishments, as well as exceptional achievements by individual public relations practitioners.
“However far we can see, it is because we stand on the shoulders of those who came before. I have been blessed to stand on the shoulders of some giants,” Garcia noted in his acceptance speech. “And I would not be standing here if not for them.”
For 45 years, Garcia has helped leaders build trust, inspire loyalty, and lead effectively. He is a coach, counselor, teacher, writer, and speaker whose clients include some of the largest and best-known companies and organizations in the world. He is the author of seven books on crisis, communication, and leadership. Garcia is an adjunct professor at the NYU Stern School of Business and an adjunct associate professor of management and communication in NYU’s School of Professional Studies, MS in Public Relations and Corporate Communication program, where he has received numerous awards for teaching excellence.
“Of all the things I’ve been privileged and blessed to do in my career, the most gratifying is being able to teach public relations at New York University over the last 37 years. I began my 38th year two weeks ago,” Garcia reflected. “And as is written in the Talmud, I have learned much from my teachers. I have learned more from my colleagues. But it is from my students that I have learned the most.”
Garcia closed his acceptance speech with a message to the young public relations practitioners in attendance: “However far we see, we stand on the shoulders of others. You have stood on the shoulders of others. And others can stand on your shoulders.”
