Managing Meaning

One of the most interesting aspects of framing is that we don’t even recognize the frames we are responding to. This is because we make choices based on frames, and then justify those choices by referencing the facts.

Framing is the creation of context. Framing is a neuro-linguistic phenomenon in which words and images trigger worldviews that determine how understand any new information that follows.

This module focuses on the creation of context that leads audiences to a desired conclusion. It demonstrates that facts alone are rarely persuasive, and that the same facts can lead people to dramatically different conclusions based on the opening frames. It also highlights the importance of structure to drive meaning.
