New York, NY (March 18, 2015) – Last week Helio Fred Garcia, President of Logos Consulting Group, shared principles from The Power of Communication: Skills to Build Trust, Inspire Loyalty, and Lead Effectively with 100 students at Sino-British College (SBC) in Shanghai, China. The Chinese language edition of The Power of Communication was published in China last year.

The Power of Communication is about how leaders can inspire, persuade, and earn the confidence of stakeholders through verbal engagement.  And about how they can build trust, inspire loyalty, and lead effectively.

“Students who participated in the lecture expressed that improving communication skills was not only for workplace but also was an important social skill for all places,” according to SBC.

The lecture is one of several appearances by Garcia at Chinese colleges and universities, including Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tianjin University, and the China campuses of New York University and Johns Hopkins University.

“It was a pleasure to share communication principles with this group of intelligent and curious students,” Garcia noted, “I hope they will learn more through reading this book.”

New York, NY (Nov. 6, 2014) – The Power of Communication: Skills to Build Trust, Inspire Loyalty, and Lead Effectively by Logos president Helio Fred Garcia was reviewed by David H. Rosen, Senior Vice President of Digital Corporate and Public Affairs at Edelman Public Relations. The review was posted both on LinkedIn and as a Five-Star review on Amazon.

“The Power of Communication has displaced The Art of War as the first book I recommend to colleagues looking to learn strategy,” Rosen writes, “In short, you should still read Sun-Tzu’s The Art of War, but you’re best served by reading Helio Fred Garcia’s The Power of Communication first.”

“I was flattered to see The Power of Communication is compared with the ancient wisdom of The Art of War,” Garcia said, “I thank David for his honest and kind review.”

New York, NY (July 27, 2014) – The Chinese language edition of The Power of Communication, Skills to Build Trust, Inspire Loyalty, and Lead Effectively, by Logos president Helio Fred Garcia, is receiving a positive reception in China.

The Power of Communication is about how leaders can inspire, persuade, and earn the confidence of stakeholders through verbal engagement. And about how they can build trust, inspire loyalty, and lead effectively.

An online review was recently posted on Weibo (China’s equivalent of Twitter) by Gu Qiubei (Grace Gu). Ms. Gu is a Speech Lecturer in the English College of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), where she teaches public speaking, debate, interpretation, and intensive English reading. She has translated many books from English to Chinese, including The Art of Public Speaking.

In her review of The Power of Communication Ms. Gu wrote: “Lots of things look accidental, but actually they are inevitable. It is my fate to meet this book, The Power of Communication, by Helio Fred Garcia. This book is real and sincere. You can imagine a sophisticated sage teaching everything from his communication experience. As a public speaking trainer, I think this book should be on the must-read list for national MBA programs and for people who want to communicate effectively.”

In addition to the endorsements by prominent communication experts, the Chinese edition of The Power of Communication has received very positive reviews at the leading Chinese online booksellers. As of late July a total of 26 online reviews have been posted on the four top booksellers; 21 were Five-Star reviews; 5 were Four-Star. New York, NY (June 19, 2014) – The Chinese language edition of The Power of Communication: Skills to Build Trust, Inspire Loyalty, and Lead Effectively by Logos President Helio Fred Garcia was published jointly by Pearson Education Asia Ltd in Hong Kong and Publishing House of Electronics Industry in Beijing under the title 沟通的力量.

The Power of Communication is about how leaders can inspire, persuade, earn the confidence of stakeholders through verbal engagement, and how they can build trust, inspire loyalty, and lead effectively. The book is based on the premise that communication has power, but as with any powerful tool, if it is not used effectively it can dissipate or can cause self-inflicted harm. Harnessing the power of communication is a fundamental leadership discipline.

“I am pleased to see the book has reached beyond the U.S.,” Garcia commented, “I look forward to seeing how it will be received by the Chinese-speaking readers.”

In late 2011, Garcia was named an International Distinguished Scholar by the leading Chinese university, Tsinghua University.  He taught graduate students and leaders from Chinese government ministries, the Party, and heads of state-owned enterprises. Garcia will return to China later this year on a book tour that will include lectures, university teaching, public appearances, and client consulting.

The English edition of The Power of Communication was published in May 2012 by FT Press, an imprint of Pearson. In the U.S. the book has been very well received.  It has twice been named to the US Marine Corps Commandant’s Professional Reading List, for 2013 and 2014, as one of eight leadership titles. It is required reading at a number of universities in the US, Switzerland, Peru, Chile, Israel, and other markets.
